Kawan Fun Snacks – Spinach and Cheese Croquettes – Review
I rarely do reviews on food but this deserves one.
My kids and I were scouring for a good hash potato pack when we came across this croquette quick cook snack. I can say that the packaging is good and convinced me to try it out. Even at the price of Php115.00 in Trinoma Supermarket, I really need to see if it’s good and besides my kids have this thing about spinach. I have this inkling that they are descendants of Popeye or something. For the cost, I could easily buy a good pack of chicken nuggets with a bit of change at hand. Then again, I was persuaded and I still think the packaging design is really good.
Cooking it
There are multiple ways of preparing it. You can microwave it, air fry it or the old ways of deep frying it. And as a lazy guy, I chose to deep fry it. I did over fry some of them though. They easily get cooked so watch out for that. I suggest to maintain medium to low heat once these croquettes hit the pan. Like the box says, It is easy to cook and prepare.
How does it taste?
I was excited to take a bite. And when I did, I tried hard to justify the price with the printed ingredients and the good packaging. It wasn’t awful but it wasn’t good. It supposed to taste like potato with spinach and cheese but instead I was greeted with a starchy first taste and it went on. The more you chew it the more it’s evident that there was less of the combined ingredients yumminess inside. All I was left with is that starchy taste. My kids can also attest to that.
But hey! This is my review and my opinion only. If you want to take a shot at it, go ahead. You can find it at the middle portion of the Trinoma Landmark Supermarket where the frozen goodies are stored. As for me, I ain’t gonna waste a hundred pesos for this again.
